Hutchinson Technology designs and manufactures suspension assemblies for disk drives.  Suspension assemblies are precise electromechanical components that hold a disk drive’s recording head at microscopic distances above the drive’s disks. 

As a leading worldwide supplier, our suspensions are used in virtually every size and type of disk drive – from disk drives used in desktop and notebook PCs, to those used in data servers and enterprise computers.  In addition, our suspensions can be found in consumer electronics products such as digital video recorders and personal storage devices.

Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is home to one of our company’s four manufacturing facilities. The original 156,000 square foot building was constructed in 1995.  Since then, the Eau Claire plant has expanded to over 850,000 square feet, making it the company’s largest manufacturing facility. The Eau Claire operation’s team includes production operators, engineers, technicians, toolmakers/machinists and other support staff.
